Food Bank of the Southern Tier Gets National Recognition

A group that looks to feed the hungry in the region is the top food bank in the nation. Feeding America has named the Food Bank of the Southern Tier, which serves six counties in the area, including Broome and Tioga Chenango Counties, the Food Bank of the Year.

The Food Bank of the Southern Tier works with several agencies, including the Community Hunger Outreach Warehouse to serve residents in the region.

Feeding America praised the Food Bank for increasing capacity of 165 member agencies like food pantries and soup kitchens in the region and involving donors in planning for stopping hunger.
