Broome County residents gathered in a baseball stadium parking lot in downtown Binghamton to obtain food assistance.

About 175 people had registered for Tuesday morning's mobile food pantry event.

Randi Quackenbush of the Food Bank of the Southern Tier said the agency provides food to those in need at several Broome County food pantry sites each month.

Quackenbush said there's a network of food pantries across the region which are able to offer help to individuals and families. She said people can find information about those locations on the Food Bank's website or by calling 211.

The snowy weather in recent weeks has posed some challenges in food distribution operations across the Southern Tier. Some mobile food pantry events have been canceled because of poor road conditions.
