Long-time Major League slugger Darryl Strawberry visited NYSEG Stadium on Sunday afternoon to greet fans and sign autographs.  Strawberry attended a VIP Breakfast with fans and then signed autographs during the first game of the Binghamton versus Harrisburg doubleheader.  He also threw out the day's ceremonial first pitch.

Strawberry had a seventeen-year Major League career.  He was the top overall draft pick of the New York Mets in 1980 and won National League Rookie of the Year in 1983.  He was a member of two World Series Championship teams winning a title with the Mets  and Yankees.

Strawberry was named a Major League All-Star for eight consecutive seasons including five straight as the National League's starting right fielder.  He played with four Big League teams and played in 1583 games.  He hit 335 home runs during his Major League career and posted a .259 batting average.

Strawberry is now an ordained minister and has established two recovery centers in Florida to help those who are battling drug and alcohol addiction.
