Is the Vestal Parkway a bit crowded this week? Well, that's because students of Binghamton University started the Fall 2026 semester today, Tuesday, August 18, 2026, and many live in off-campus housing, commuting to the campus in Vestal.

Fall Sports At BU Have Begun

The sports season has begun on campus as well, including the Binghamton Bearcats women's soccer team. The team opened their new season last Thursday, August 13th at home, as they defeated Lehigh, 3-0, followed by a shutout of Marist in an away game on Sunday, 2-0. The team will be back in action this Sunday, August 23rd at LeMoyne in Syracuse.

The Binghamton Bearcats women's soccer team won the America East regular season championship last year and were picked to finish second this season in a recently released coaches poll. The Bearcats return nine starters and six all-conference selections from last year's team.

BU Men's Basketball Preview

The Binghamton Bearcats men's basketball team released their non-conference men's basketball schedule for the upcoming season. The Bearcats will play 15 non-conference games and open with an away game against a Power-4 opponent to be announced.

The team will travel to St. Peter's for a November 5th contest, with an away game on November 2nd against a Power-4 team to be announced. That game will be the kick-off to the 2026-27 season. 

Binghamton has its first home game on Saturday, November 8th at the Visions Veterans Memorial Arena against Rider. The Bearcats will play four non-conference home games at the downtown arena while renovation work is being done at the Events Center.
That work is expected to be completed in time for America East play beginning in January.
Other non-conference games on the Bearcats' schedule include visits to
Duquesne in Pittsburgh on November 14 and Syracuse on December 22.
The America East conference schedule was released today. For the BU Men, the first game against an  AE opponent will be on Saturday, January 2nd, hosting Vermont, concluding on Tuesday, March 2nd, visiting UMBC in Baltimore.
In addition to January 2nd, Binghamton's home games will occur on January 21st versus Maine, January 23rd versus New Hampshire, January 28th versus UMBC, February 6th versus NJIT, February 13th versus UMass Lowell, February 17th versus UAlbany, and February 20th versus Bryant.
Teams in the league, along with Binghamton and Vermont, include Maine, Bryant, New Hampshire, UMass Lowell, UAlbany, NJIT, and UMBC.
