What To Expect At Rumble Ponies Final Games In September

And we're down to the last few games of the season. The Binghamton Rumble Ponies are at Mirabito Stadium this week for the last regular-season home series.

Tuesday through Sunday, the Rumble Ponies will be hosting the New Hampshire Fisher Cats at Mirabito Stadium. Here are some of the things happening promotionally at the stadium this week, followed by a recap of the 6-game series with the Reading Fightin' Phils last week:

Rumble Ponies - Fightin' Phils Recap

Last week, the Rumble Ponies were in Reading, taking on the Fightin' Phils for a six-game series. Here's how that series played out, with details provided by the Binghamton Rumble Ponies' Matt Levine and Cam Manna:

Tuesday, August 25th - Fightin' Phils - 8 Rumble Ponies - 6

The Rumble Ponies deposited a season-high five home runs, but surrendered a 4-0 lead and were defeated by the Fightin Phils, 8-6, on Tuesday afternoon at First Energy Stadium.

Reading trailed 6-4 in the bottom of the eighth inning and fought all the way back to take an 8-6 lead. Against right-hander Saul Garcia, third baseman Carson DeMartini hit a leadoff home run to spark the frame.

Reading right-hander Estibenzon Jimenez got the three-out save in the ninth inning to shut the door and secure the 8-6 win for Reading.

Binghamton jumped out to a 4-0 lead, and the home run outburst started in the second inning to take a 1-0 lead against the Eastern League leader in wins, ERA, and strikeouts, left-hander Adam Seminaris.

Wednesday, August 26th - Fightin' Phils - 6 Rumble Ponies -2

Binghamton recorded its third consecutive multi-home-run game, but surrendered three homers in a 6-2 loss to Reading on Wednesday night at FirstEnergy Stadium.

In the second inning, Binghamton tied things up against right-hander Cody Bowker, who made his second Double-A start. Left fielder Eli Serrano III, who played in his second game since coming off the 60-day injured list, hit a solo home run. Serrano III has homered in back-to-back games in his return to the lineup.

In the series, there have been 12 home runs between both teams combined. Binghamton homered five times on Tuesday and twice on Wednesday, as Reading blasted two homers Tuesday and three on Wednesday.

Friday, August 28th - Rumble Ponies - 5 Fightin'Phils - 1

Chris Suero drove in four runs, while Binghamton’s pitching staff held Reading to one run on three hits as the Rumble Ponies defeated the Fightin Phils, 5-1.

Binghamton jumped out to a 3-0 lead against Phillies No. 1 prospect, right-hander Gage Wood. Shortstop Marco Vargas led off the contest with a double, as third baseman Jacob Reimer walked to set up center fielder Chris Suero, who clubbed a three-run home run.

Suero has 18 home runs on the season and is two homers shy of joining the 20-20-20 club. Right-hander Will Watson made his first Double-A start since May 5 against Hartford, after being activated from the 60-day injured list on Thursday.

Saturday, August 29th - Doubleheader

Game 1 - Fightin'Phils - 5 Rumble Ponies - 3

Binghamton got on the board first for the third time in this series and led 1-0 against right-hander Reese Dutton. Shortstop Marco Vargas and third baseman Jacob Reimer both walked, and catcher Chris Suero scored Vargas with an RBI single.

Suero has five RBIs over his last two games, with four that have come in the first inning.

Game 2 - Fightin'Phils - 3 Rumble Ponies - 0

Binghamton was shut out for the 12th time this season and swept in a doubleheader for the third time this year.

Right-hander R.J. Gordon took the loss, despite recording a quality start in a complete game. Gordon allowed three earned runs on seven hits and two walks with six strikeouts. Gordon finished August with a 3-1 record and a 2.17 ERA in five starts.

The Rumble Ponies stranded the bases loaded twice and left nine runners on base in the contest.

Sunday, August 30th - Rumble Ponies - 14 Fightin' Phils - 5

Marco Vargas, Jefferson Rojas and Mitch Voit combined for nine RBIs as the Rumble Ponies stormed past the Fightin Phils, 14-5, in the series finale.

The game saw 109 pitches over the first two innings between Binghamton right-hander Gabe Davis and Reading left-hander Adam Seminaris.

The Rumble Ponies took a 3-0 lead in the top of the second inning. Center fielder Chris Suero walked and then stole second base for his 34th swiped bag of the year. Left fielder Corey Collins drove him in with an RBI double.

Catcher Kevin Parada followed with a single for his fourth hit over the last two games, and it put Collins off third base before first baseman Jamri Baylor delivered a sacrifice fly. One batter later, second baseman Mitch Voit tallied an RBI double. Voit handed in a three-RBI night, behind his third three-hit game at the Double-A level, and reached base five times.

The Rumble Ponies lost four out of the six games against the Fightin Phils and sit 4.5 games out of first place with 12 games to play in the 2026 second half.
