COVID-19 is having a huge impact on our nation and the world and now word has reached us that the effects have extended to the America East Conference.  In a joint release from America East and the Collegiate Officiating Consortium it was revealed that two persons working the floor in several men's basketball tournament games have tested positive for COVID-19.

One of those games was an America East  Tournament quarterfinal involving the Maine Black Bears and the Vermont Catamounts on Saturday, March 7.  The game was played at Patrick Gymnasium in Burlington, Vermont.

Other games where one or both of the officials worked include:

A Horizon League Tournament semifinal game in Indianapolis on March 9 with UIC versus Wright State.

A Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference First Round playoff between Manhattan and Fairfield in Atlantic City

Manhattan vs Siena in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference quarterfinal also in Atlantic City.

The Collegiate Officiating Consortium represents Division I institutions in 22 states and includes 65 Division I institutions.

The identity of the crew members affected has not been released.  In relation to Binghamton University the Bearcats men's basketball team could have been involved in that America East game.  Binghamton and Maine were jockeying for the eighth and final playoff spot which was secured by the Black Bears.  If Binghamton had secured that spot the Bearcats would be the team concerned about exposure along with the Catamounts.
