A Cortland man is facing felony charges following an armed robbery in the Town of Cortlandville during very early morning hours.

Sheriff's deputies were called to the M&T Bank branch on Route 222 at around 1:30 in the morning of  December 16 by a woman who said a man had brandished a pistol and demanded money.

Authorities say an unknown amount of money was taken.

Based on descriptions, authorities arrested 25-year-old Maxwell Shoup nearby.

Deputies also recovered money believed stolen in the heist.

Shoup is being charged with felony counts of robbery and grand larceny as well as three misdemeanor counts of menacing and misdemeanor criminal possession of a weapon.

He was released following arraignment due to the New York State Bail Reform regulations and ordered to appear in Town of Cortlandville Court next month.
