Weitsman Ready to Close on Purchase of Davis College Site
The sale of the Johnson City property that has been home to Davis College is expected to be finalized early next month.
Businessman Adam Weitsman is acquiring the site off Riverside Drive after Davis College sought a buyer in the midst of a declining enrollment and financial challenges.
Weitsman told WNBF News he is prepared to close on the property after Davis completes the sale of furniture and other items at the site.
Weitsman said he last visited the campus a couple of days ago and he said "it looks great." He said he still is developing plans for the property.
Davis College now is in the process of selling about everything that isn't nailed down at the site.
A spokesman Tuesday afternoon said "everything must go." Ovens were available for $50 each and a wide variety of other items also were available on a first-come, first-serve basis.
A baby grand piano was the only item that had a fixed price. Davis College was seeking $5,000 for that - or the best offer.
The sale is scheduled to continue every weekday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. through next Monday. People interested in purchasing items may stop by the Davis College campus.
