Johnson City Chick-fil-A Rising at Oakdale Commons
People passing by the Oakdale Commons in Johnson City finally can see some proof that a Chick-fil-A restaurant is being built on the site of a recently-demolished bank.
The old Key Bank near Harry L. Drive and Reynolds Road closed last October. The abandoned building was torn down over the winter in preparation for the first Broome County Chick-fil-A location.
This week, construction crews are starting to erect the structure in the southeast corner of the Oakdale Commons property.

The Chick-fil-A is being built near two other recently-opened restaurants. Panera Bread and Chipotle Mexican Grill are located just west of the Chick-fil-A site.
The wood framing of the new restaurant has drawn attention of those traveling through the busy intersection at the north end of Route 201.
The Johnson City Chick-fil-A is expected to open in October. Village officials are bracing for significant traffic congestion in the area around the Oakdale Commons after the long-awaited eatery starts operations.

A second Broome County Chick-fil-A is planned at the Town Square Mall in Vestal. That location is scheduled to open early next year.
