Bijnghamton Bearcat freshman Tyler Stewart has earned the America East Rookie of the Week Honors.  Stewart, a freshman guard from Silver Spring, Maryland played a big role in a pair of Binghamton victories last week.

In the Bearcats win over Army Stewart tossed in a career-high 12 points and grabbed seven rebounds.  In the win over Loyola in Baltimore on Saturday he scored six points and grabbed a a pair of rebounds for the Bearcats.  For the week Stewart averaged 9 points per game and 4.5 rebounds.

Stewart missed the first two regular season games and played sparingly in the next couple of contests.  He suffered a broken bone in his hand and was unable to start the season but is making up for lost time.

This is the second America East honor for a Binghamton Bearcat so far this season.  Thomas Bruce was named the America East Player of the Week last week.

The Bearcats have a break in the schedule for final exam week.  Binghamton is next in action at Sacred Heart at 1 PM on Sunday.
