Rebecca Carmody Hits One Thousand Career Points and Keys BU Comeback Win
Binghamton Bearcat senior forward Rebecca Carmody scored her one thousandth career point and helped key an amazing comeback win at UMBC last (Wednesday) night. Her Bearcats were outscored 17-1 in the first quarter and were down 20 points late in the second quarter. Then came the dramatic turnaround. Binghamton went on an 11-0 run to close out the half trailing 30-21.
Carmody's milestone basket came with 2:42 left in the third quarter and put the Bearcats ahead 39-38. They never relinquished the lead and gave Binghamton its biggest comeback victory in its Division I history. Carmody finished with 12 points and nine rebounds.
Karlee Krchnavi equaled a team record 19 rebounds while scoring 16 points to play a huge role in Binghamton's comeback. Hayley Moore hit four three-point baskets and finished with 14 points and also was key in the BU victory.
Binghamton's victory puts its America East record at 5-7 while the Retrievers fall to 1-10 in conference action. The Bearcats are idle until next Wednesday when they host UMass Lowell at 7:00 P.M at the Events Center.
