Rumble Ponies Home to Host Trenton Thunder
The Binghamton Rumble Ponies are back home tonight to begin a three-game series against the Trenton Thunder. All three games are set for 6:35 starts with air at 6:20 on News Radio 1290 WNBF. It's the Eastern League version of the Subway Series as the Thunder is the Double-A affiliate of the New York Yankees.
Both teams are in the fight for first place in the Eastern Division. Heading into action tonight Hartford holds a one-half game lead over the Thunder. In third place is Reading...one game out of first place and the Rumble Ponies who are two games behind and currently in fourth place. Trenton's record is 34-24 while the Rumble Ponies are 32-25 and are 9-13 when playing at home.
Binghamton had two players promoted to Triple-A Syracuse. Two of the New York Mets top prospects moved a step closer to the Major Leagues. Anthony Kay departs with a sizzling 1.47 ERA and a 7-3 record in 12 starts. Ryley Gilliam also heads to Syracuse. Gilliam departs with an ERA of 3.68 and struck out 44 batters in 29 innings pitched.
