Strong, gusty winds are blamed for numerous trees, limbs and utility lines down.

New York State Electric and Gas was still dealing with power outages scattered around the Southern Tier June 15.  Over 200 customers in Broome County were told by 7 a.m. via the NYSEG website: www.nyseg.com that their power might not be back on until noon.

Other customers in Tioga and Chenango Counties were also left without power overnight.

NYSEG has not offered information about the cause of the interruptions that first troubled the area this week when strong thunderstorms brought down trees and wires in the evening of June 13.  Thursday, June 14, well over 1,000 NYSEG customers in Chenango County were without service for the morning.

High winds persisted through the day, gusting over 30 miles per hour and emergency services crews were being called out throughout the day to respond to trees across roads and wires down.
