Pedestrian-Train Accident In The Town of Union

An Endwell Man died after begin struck by a train near the area of Peral Street between South Kelly Avenue and South Avenue B in the Town of Union on September 11th according to the Broome County Sheriff's Office. The man has been known to frequent the area. The train engineer was unable to stop the train in time.

Homeless Man Living In Bus Shelter Reunited With Ohio Family

For several months, a homeless man has called a Binghamton bus stop shelter, his home, according to the Broome County Sheriff’s Office and the Broome County Department of Social Services. According to the Uncle, James Sutton, Earl had been missing for two years.

Broome Wind Farm Close To Operating

The first wind farm in the Binghamton area is close to going into commercial operation as the project's link to the grid has been energized. More than two dozen turbines in the Bluestone Wind Wind Project in eastern Broome County are being commissioned. The 122 megawatt project consists of 26 turbines. Four are located in the town of Windsor with the majority of the units in the town of Sanford.

Small Aircraft Flips Upside-Down in Cortland

According to a release from the New York State Police Troop C, the airplane was described as a single-engine Cessna 305A 'Bird Dog.'  The New York State Police stated that the pilot 'self-extricated' from the plane before the  first responders arrived.

Two Shots Fired Incidents in Endicott

Gunshots rang out twice in a span of less than four hours in the area of an Endicott home village officials are trying to lock down. Investigators determined the people involved in the shooting had agreed to meet near 1000 Monroe Street following an online argument. Around midnight - shortly after police left the Monroe Street neighborhood - someone reported hearing a single gunshot.

Debated 'Birds and Bees Protection Act' Heads To Governor Hochul Desk

According to the NYS Senate Bill, if signed by Governor Hochul, it would  "prohibit the sale, distribution or purchase by any person within the state of corn, soybean or wheat seeds coated or treated with pesticides with the active ingredients clothianidin, imidacloprid, thiamethoxam, dinotefuran, or acetamiprid" beginning January 1, 2027.

Binghamton Neighborhood Sealed Off After Gunfire Report

City police officers sealed off the North Side neighborhood around 5 Sturges Street around 12:35 p.m. Friday September 15th. Binghamton police chief Joseph Zikuski conferred with officers and detectives on Sturges Street. He told WNBF News that there was no indication that anyone was injured. He said police were trying to determine what had happened. Several people were detained by police.

Otsiningo Park Dog Park To Open Soon

The $200,000 complex will be located at the north end of Otsiningo Park in the town of Chenango. Broome County Executive Jason Garnar said the facility is expected to be operational soon. He told WNBF News it should be ready to open "in a couple weeks." The complex is just east of Interstate 81. Access to the dog park will be from Howell Drive, which is off Front Street.

Binghamton University Ranks High On Best Colleges In the USA

According to the Binghamton University BingUNews, the Wall Street Journal put the Bearcats high on their list as well. The Wall Street Journal bases it's finding on several factors such as student outcomes, learning environment, diversity, experiences, student perceptions of learning opportunities, career preparation, dining halls and sports facilities.
