Jets QB Darnold Sacked by Mono

The New York Jets starting quarterback Sam Darnold has been diagnosed with mononucleosis and will definitely be out for this Monday night's game against the Cleveland Browns. According to Adam Maya of NFL.com Jets coach Adam Gase made the announcement earlier today (Thursday). Gase indicated Darnold may be out for at least another game the following week against New England.

In the season opening loss to the Buffalo Bills on Sunday Darnold threw for 175 yards and completed 28 of 41 pass attempts.  According to Gase Darnold had been losing weight and did not feel well.  Upon further review he was diagnosed with mononucleosis.

Starting in place of Darnold will be Trevor Siemian.  According to Maya's report Siemian last started for the Denver Broncos in 2017.  He spent last season with the Minnesota Vikings but did not see any action.
