While New York State Electric and Gas was showing only a couple dozen customers in Broome, Chenango, Delaware and Tioga Counties without power at 4 a.m. June 14, just a couple hours later close to 2,000 NYSEG customers in Chenango County were reportedly waking up in the dark.

The utility reported 1,950 customers were without power at 6.a.m., the majority of those in the Town of Guilford.  1,406 customers in the Town were without power, including in Guilford, Bainbridge and Mount Upton.

NYSEG said on its website: www.nyseg.com/outages that it expected electricity to be restored to most areas by 9:30 a.m.

Power was also reported out  to 27 customers in Delaware County.

Following strong storms through the area in the evening on June 13, the National Weather Service was projecting winds gusting over 30 mph on June 14.  That could cause for additional trouble with power lines.
