Citizens Bank to Move Its Endicott Branch from Washington Avenue
More bank branch changes are coming in Broome County as customers make fewer in-person transactions.
Citizens Bank is preparing to relocate its branch in Endicott. The office at 18 Washington Avenue is scheduled to close on September 10.
Citizens Bank spokesman Bennett Griesmer said the Endicott branch will be moved to 1001 North Street. The site is near the Price Chopper supermarket about two blocks west of the current branch.
The new branch will have about 3,200 square feet. That's one-third the size of the Washington Avenue site.
Griesmer said Citizens Bank branches generally "are becoming smaller with fewer teller stations and more automated transaction capabilities."
Employees now working at the Washington Avenue site are expected to relocate when the new branch opens on September 13.
Renovation work at the future North Street site began a few weeks ago.
A bank has occupied the building at 18 Washington Avenue for more than six decades. Endicott National Bank opened at the site in November 1960. Key Bank operated a branch in the building before Citizens Bank set up operations there.
