This weekend residents and visitors have a chance to go to over a dozen open houses… of God.

Central New York Congregations are opening their doors during the New York Landmarks Conservancy “Sacred Sites Open House Weekend” May 16 and 17.

Some of the churches highlight impressive architecture like the Sarah Jane Johnson Memorial United Methodist Church in Johnson City, which is built of Hummelstown, Pennsylvania brown stone in a gothic style that has served as a landmark for decades.

A complete list of sacred sites participating in Binghamton, Endicott, Endwell, Johnson City, Elmira and Syracuse can be found at the Landmarks Conservancy website, www.nylandmarks.org.
