Broome County Sheriff’s officials say a man who swerved to avoid hitting a cat is being charged with drunk driving.

28 year old Jamie Bayer of Endicott reportedly hit a parked car and ended up in a front lawn on Birdsall Street in West Endicott at 3:19 a.m. October 1 after avoiding the cat.

In addition to DWI, he’s charged with moving from a lane unsafely and refusing a breath screening.

Bayer was released and ordered to appear in Town of Union Court at a later date.
