West Endicott Warehouse to Be Built for Clothing Company

A Broome County family-owned clothing business is planning to establish a warehouse and distribution center in the town of Union.

The new facility on Dickson Street in West Endicott is to be developed by Woolx. The company has its corporate headquarters on Pearl Street in Endwell.

Woolx was established in 2012 by members of the Calleo family. According to the company website, the family has had a long history in the retail outdoor clothing business. They operated Hank's Clothing for Men and Women on Upper Front Street in the town of Chenango for decades.

Woolx representatives presented an overview of the company's warehouse project at a recent meeting of the town of Union planning board.

The facility is to be constructed on a six-acre site that was acquired in May for $750,000.

The property in the past had been used for soccer fields. The land has been vacant in recent decades.

Town supervisor Robert Mack said the site is zoned industrial. He told WNBF News the warehouse and distribution center would be a "clean facility" that would not be used for manufacturing purposes.

Mack described the preliminary plans for the building as "beautiful." He said the new facility could provide a buffer between homes on Dickson Street and some of the noise generated by the nearby National Pipe and Plastics production facility.

The warehouse is to be constructed near the former Felix Roma Bakery on Page Avenue. The facility would be located just east of the Sam A. Lupo and Sons production facility.

Nicole Calleo, Woolx founder and CEO, could not be reached for comment Wednesday on the company's expansion plans.
