Car Slams into Abandoned Phone Store in Binghamton
A woman lost control of a sport utility vehicle in a rainstorm, crashing through a brick wall of a Binghamton building.
The incident happened around 4:30 p.m. Friday at 2 Mitchell Avenue on the South Side.
A Honda Pilot was seen leaving the parking lot of a Mirabito convenience store on Vestal Avenue.
The vehicle suddenly lurched onto Mitchell Avenue and went over a sidewalk before smashing into the building.
The driver of the car reportedly sustained minor cuts when the vehicle's airbag deployed as it struck the wall of a former Metro PCS store on the east side of the building.
The crash caused some damage inside the vacant storefront, where bricks and other debris were scattered on the floor.
A NYSEG supervisor was called to the scene because an electrical box on the outside of the building appeared to have been damaged.
The building that was hit also houses a Speed Queen Coin Laundry business.
