Another state-licensed cannabis retail store will be opening in Binghamton soon.

Juanita "Tanya" Williams of Endicott has been working to set up the new dispensary in the city's First Ward.

Exotic World NY will be located in a storefront in a three-story building at 197 Clinton Street. The business will operate in the space that previously was occupied by Paradise Hair World.

Williams acknowledged that the work required to establish the dispensary, including receiving all the necessary state and local approvals has been "tedious."

She began the process to launch the business a few years ago. She said she received state approval for the dispensary in July of last year.

Williams appeared before the city planning commission in July as she sought a special use permit. The commission approved her application after a public hearing in August.

Now, she's looking forward to opening the business, which will operate seven days a week. She hopes to start operating by late October.

Williams said the dispensary will offer online ordering. She expects the business will provide a delivery service starting early next year.

A Long Island developer is planning to build a major residential project on Clinton Street just east of where the dispensary will operate. That two-phase project ultimately could include a total of 288 apartments.
