The office building that houses most of the Broome County government operations in downtown Binghamton was knocked out of service following a water main break.

The problem in the Edwin Crawford County Office Building on Hawley Street was discovered early Friday morning.

The facility is one of three office buildings in the Government Plaza complex. The water issue apparently did not affect operations at the State Office Building and Binghamton City Hall.

A Broome County government spokesman said people were working to "get things up and running."

The water issue brought down the county government website and affected employee email service.
