During last year's budget, $50,000 grant was secured for purchasing medical supplies, three new washers and dryers, laptops, iPads, and outdoor turf for the dogs.

$40,000 from this year’s budget will pay for further improvements, including the purchase of video cameras and upgrades to the veterinary area, according to Assemblywoman Donna Lupardo.

I am very appreciative of the work the Broome County Humane Society does year-round to care for animals awaiting their forever homes. I’ve adopted many rescue cats from shelters over the years and know how dedicated and hardworking their staff are. I’m very happy that I could help them with these much-needed grants. - New York State Assemblywoman Donna Lupardo

These funds help make needed equipment purchases to support the mission of the Broome County Humane Society, which has served over 5,200 pets and rescued a combined 1,431 cats and dogs in 2024.

We are deeply grateful and honored to receive the support of Assemblywoman Lupardo. Our team works tirelessly to ensure the well-being of every animal in our care, and grants like this are critical in helping us continue this important work. - Broome County Humane Society Executive Director Karen Matson
