The Binghamton Bearcats travel to Manhattan tonight (Wednesday) for a 7:00 PM game against the Columbia Lions.  (Coverage begins on News Radio 1290 WNBF at 6:45 PM).  Both teams are 0-2 in the young season.  Columbia has fallen to road foes Lafayette and Wake Forest while the Bearcats dropped their season opener at Cornell last week and then fell to Preseason Number One Michigan State  on Sunday night at East Lansing.

Ivy League foe Columbia has won two of three previous meetings with Binghamton over the years.  At the Events Center last year the Lions edged BU 65-63 on a buzzer beating layup.  Sam Sessoms paced the Bearcats with 25 points.

In Columbia's last game the Lions held a 63-59 lead with 50 seconds to play before ACC member Wake Forest rallied for the win.  In Sunday night's game at the Breslin Center the Michigan State Spartans controlled the game from start to finish to earn the home win against Binghamton.

The Lions have a Binghamton connection.  Associate Head Coach Marlon Sears was an assistant at BU from 2001 - 2006 and was part of some of the Bearcats best seasons at the Division I level.  He served as Cornell University's top assistant before leaving to become the head men's basketball coach at Montclair State for four seasons prior to joining Columbia's staff this season.
