BU Women Fall to Yale Bulldogs
The Binghamton Bearcats women's basketball team lost to the Yale Bulldogs 70-64 in a Women's Basketball Invitational (WBI) quarterfinal round tournament game at the Events Center last night. The Bulldogs took advantage of poor Binghamton shooting to go up 37-20 at halftime. A furious comeback effort in the second half by the Bearcats fell short as Yale never relinquished the lead. Binghamton outscored the Bulldogs 44-33 in the second twenty minutes. The Bearcats shot just 24 percent from the field in the first half. Meanwhile, Yale went 14-29 for 48 percent.
The Bulldogs had four players in double digits and were led by Tori Andrew's 16-point performance. Binghamton's leading regular season scorer Imani Watkins finished with 23 points but went 1-12 in the first half accounting for only two points. Rebecca Carmody missed several practices leading up to the game with a virus or flu bug but emerged with a strong showing hitting for 17 points and adding eight rebounds.
The loss ends Binghamton's season. The Bearcats finish with a record of 20-12. Yale improves to 17-13 and continues in WBI competition. The Bulldogs up their record to 17-13 and will play a semifinal game at 6 PM Friday night at home against South Alabama.
