The Columbia Lions proved too much for the Binghamton Bearfcats men's basketball team to handle on Wednesday night at Levien Gymnasium in Manhattan. Columbia led 37-33 at the end of the first half and then turned back a Bearcat scoring flurry to start the second half and went on to record a 75-63 decision. Binghamton was outscored 38-30 in the second half .

The win was the first for the Lions this season while the Bearcats fall to 0-3.  Sam Sessoms led the Bearcats offensively with 23 points. Columbia had five players score in double figures led by point guard Mike Smith who hit for 19 points.

Binghamton returns home for a basketball doubleheader on Saturday.  The BU women host Niagara University at 2 PM followed by the me's game versus Sacred Heart.  Both games can be heard on News Radio 1290 WNBF.
