A judge is hearing the non-jury trial of 26 year old Timothy Ellis, who is charged with attempted murder and burglary in the 2010 attack at the woman’s home on Walters Road.

Co-defendants 26 year old Dustin Buckley and 28 year old Shawn Bryant accepted plea deals.

Prosecutors say the men burst into the woman’s home and beat her, crushing bones in her face and leaving her for dead.

Family members found her the next morning and rushed her to a hospital.

Authorities say guns and cash had been stolen from the home of the woman, whose husband was out of town on business.

If convicted of attempted murder, Ellis could be sentenced to up to 25 years in prison.

Ellis had originally been scheduled to stand trial in November but a mistrial was declared.
