Binghamton Man Charged with Attempted Murder in Stabbing

A man was critically injured in a stabbing during a dispute with another man in a Binghamton neighborhood. The suspect has been charged with attempted murder.

The assault happened on Doubleday Street around 5:45 p.m. Thursday.

Residents told WNBF News that the stabbing occurred in front of a home at 10 Doubleday Street.

They said two men were arguing when one of them repeatedly stabbed the other in the chest and face. The severely-wounded man stumbled east before collapsing near the driveway of 16 Doubleday Street.

The injured man was transported to Wilson Medical Center in Johnson City in a Binghamton Fire Department ambulance.

Binghamton police said the 44-year-old victim had been stabbed four times. He was in critical but stable condition Friday morning.

The suspect in the stabbing - identified as 23-year-old Dominic L. Rought of Binghamton - fled the scene on foot. He was located by police nearby on Eldredge Street west of Chenango Street.

Police said Rought has been charged with second-degree attempted murder. He was arraigned Friday morning in Binghamton City Court and sent to Broome County Jail.
