A Binghamton man has been charged with attempted murder after he allegedly fired a gun into the Johnson City home of a former girlfriend.

Authorities said 46-year-old Grady Hunter Jr. of Binghamton was taken into custody two days after the shooting.

According to Johnson City police, officers were sent to Allen Street around 11:40 p.m. Friday to investigate a report of a man armed with a gun.

Before police arrived, the man fired the weapon into the residence and then left the scene.

Officers were advised that Hunter had displayed a gun while arguing with a man at his former girlfriend's apartment. He fired a shot into the residence and then fled in an unknown direction.

Shortly after the incident, officers tried to find Hunter at several locations but were unsuccessful.

Village police said an officer spotted Hunter driving on Main Street Sunday evening. The vehicle was pulled over and the suspect was taken into custody without incident.

In addition to attempted murder, Hunter was charged with two felony counts of criminal possession of a weapon.

Hunter was processed at the Johnson City police station and then taken to Broome County Jail for arraignment.
