About 35 homes are under a boil water advisory in the Village of Endicott.  The advisory was issued today and is expected to be in effect until Monday.  Maintenance work on the water system forced water to be shut off today (Wednesday) and again for a portion of Thursday.

The area involved in the boil water advisory includes River Terrace, Keeler, Exchange, Badger and High Avenue.  Residents effected by this advisory have been notified via door to door handouts.  According to Kevin Pero of the Village of Endicott Water Department residents need to boil all water with which they  brush their teeth , drink and cook.

Residents in the boil water advisory area are advised to bring water to a boil and boil for at least one minute and then let cool before use.  Two separate tests need to be done to check for any bacteria and to confirm the safety of the water before the boil water advisory is rescinded.  Tests results are not expected to be in until Monday.  Any of the households in the advisory area who have not been notified of a rescind order by Monday afternoon should call the Village of Endicott Water Department at 757-2445.
