Boil Water Advisory Lifted for Endicott, Endwell and West Corners
Thousands of people in western Broome County are being told they now may use their water without boiling it first.
Endicott Mayor Linda Jackson on Sunday afternoon said a boil water advisory for customers of the village water system had been lifted.
The advisory had been issued early Friday morning after a water main break near Glendale Drive caused a loss of pressure in the system.
The directive applied to residential and business customers in Endicott, Endwell and West Corners in the town of Union.
Jackson said the "problem has been resolved."
A substantial amount of water was lost due to the main break late Thursday. Workers stopped the leak after a few hours and then spent much of Friday making repairs.
