After a brief third day of testimony in the Orlando Tercero trial in Nicaragua, the judge granted more time for the defense to gather information and prepare to present a witness.

October 22nd’s proceedings in a court in Nicaragua with a streaming link to the Broome County District Attorney’s office in Binghamton lasted only about an hour with the prosecution wrapping its case and the United States again requesting that Tercero be extradited to Broome County to face murder charges in the death of Haley Anderson in March of last year.  Again, that request was denied by the Nicaraguan judge.

The Defense is now expected to prepare a witness connected to psychological examinations of the 23-year-old former B.U. student who holds dual citizenship in Nicaragua and the U-S.

The trial is scheduled to reconvene November 1, one month after proceedings started and after only three days worth of testimony, separated by days-long adjournments.
