Broome County is helping some area veterans get their wings for a trip to see the memorials in Washington D.C.

The County has announced $25,000 is going to the Twin Tiers Honor Flight that will be leaving in May from the Greater Binghamton Airport.

May 12, veterans, many of whom might not otherwise get to experience the monuments, will be flown to the nation’s Capitol at no cost.

The all-volunteer Twin tiers Honor Flight gives top priorities to WWII, Korean and Vietnam war era veterans as well as terminally ill veterans from all wars for the flights.  The May 12th trip is its “Mission 7.”

Guardians fly with the veterans to assist them and help them have a safe, memorable and rewarding experience.

The Binghamton-area community will welcome the group back home at the airport around 7:30 p.m. on the 12th.
