Broome Veterans Celebrated at the Senior Centers

Veterans and their families in Broome County have until noon Tuesday, November 8 to make reservations for a Veterans’ Recognition celebration at the senior centers.

All veterans will receive complementary lunch Wednesday, November 9 at all the centers except Deposit, which will hold its celebration on Thursday, November 10.

Besides lunch, the centers are offering a variety of activities, music and recognition ceremonies to honor those who have served our country during the luncheons from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

While the veterans are being treated to their lunch, spouses and non-veterans can also enjoy chicken cordon bleu, sides and a dessert éclair for a suggested contribution of $3.50 for seniors and vet spouses and $4.50 for those under the age of 60.

You can call the closest Senior Center directly to place a reservation by 12:00 p.m. November 8.

Also coming up on Wednesday, November, 9, the Broome County Office for Aging is hosting a presentation for family caregivers from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Broome County Public Library. The program will outline services that are available to help families including mobility management, the Southern Tier Independence Center’s Equipment Loan Closet and Caregiver Self-Care.
