Truxton Trio Accused of Menacing with a Machete and Shotgun
Three Truxton residents are facing a half dozen charges including multiple counts of menacing and endangering the welfare of a child following a physical altercation on Shackham Road at around 2:30 a.m. June 29.
33 year old Derek Marshall, 19 year old Matthew Sweeting and 17 year old Joshua Sweeting are accused of causing a victim to fall causing an injury and brandishing a machete and a shotgun.
Each is charged with three counts of endangering the welfare of a child, two counts of menacing and one count of harassment.
Cortland County Sheriff’s officials say the victim was able to leave the home and call authorities, was not seriously hurt and declined medical attention.
Marshall, who was accused of having the shotgun, was ordered to appear in Truxton Town court while both of the Sweetings were sent to the Cortland County Jail on $500 bail.
