
Town of Chenango Man Accused of Setting Fire in Disabled Child’s Home
Broome County Sheriff's officials say a Town of Chenango man is facing several felony charges for allegedly setting a fire at a home while a disabled child was present.
25-year-old Corey Valdez was arrested February 3 after authorities say they received a report of a man intentionally lighting a large stuffed animal toy on fire in a bathtub.
The fire was put out before the Deputies arrived but fire caused damage to the bathroom.
A disabled 10-year-old child as in the home at the time.

Valdez is charged with felony counts of arson, reckless endangerment and endangering the welfare of a child as well as misdemeanor endangering the welfare of a child.
Valdez was taken to the Broome County Public Safety Facility for arraignment.
A news release from the Sheriff's office did not indicate any injuries in connection with the incident.
