Thunderstorms Knock Out Power to Hundreds of NYSEG Customers
New York State Electric and Gas says power wasn’t expected to be restored for some customers in the service area until the afternoon of July 21 following the strong storms overnight.
As of 4 a.m. July 21 over 500 customers in Chenango, Broome and Tioga Counties were without power with service, for the most part, expected to be restored in the morning. Some parts of Chenango County, like Bainbridge, weren’t anticipated to be back online until 3 in the afternoon or later.
The rocky weather appears to be taking a break with no thunderstorms predicted for late July through overnight July 24-25.
The drier weather may give the area’s rivers and smaller tributaries a chance to recede and the soil conditions to dry out a little.
Residents are still advised to stay away from waterways that are running very high and very fast and pose a serious danger.
