Susquehanna Valley Fights for State Football Championship
It has been a storybook season for the Susquehanna Valley High School Football team. Now, there is a final chapter to write. The Sabers are having their most successful season with a 12-0 record and meet Section 1 Champion Dobbs Ferry Friday night at 6:00 P.M. in the Carrier Dome in Syracuse for the New York State Public High School Athletic Association (NYSPHSAA) Football Class "C" Championship.
The Sabers have never made it to the state title game. Dobbs Ferry advanced by defeating Ogdensburg Free Academy last weekend 55-22 to up their record to 8-2. The Sabers had a tougher time as they edged Cleveland Hill 21-20 at Ty Cobb Stadium in Endicott.
All of the NYSPHSAA championship games are being played at the Carrier Dome in Syracuse. For the Sabers a championship would be the culmination of a dream season. Susquehanna Valley played it first season under newly installed stadium lights. The Sabers also installed artificial turf on their home field and unveiled the renovations with a huge win over Newark Valley.
