In a defensive battle between two of New York State's best high school football teams the Blue Devils of Chenango Forks edged the Maine-Endwell Spartans 7-6 at Spartan Stadium on Saturday afternoon.  The game was played in front of a jam-packed crowd on Homecoming.

Things looked good for M-E to start as the Spartans scored first on a Nick Delucia to Lance Gulliver 36-yard touchdown pass.  The PAT attempt failed and it was 6-0 in favor of the Spartans.

Chenango Forks responded with a 24-yard touchdown run by fullback Lucas Scott with 4:17 left in the first quarter.  Ryan Joseph booted through the point-after to put the Blue Devils up 7-6.  That proved to be the final scoring in the game as both defenses were outstanding.

Lucas Scott lived up to his billing as one of the best and toughest runners in Section 4.  Along with The Forks on TD he rushed for 193 yards on 25 carries.  He also was key on the defensive side of the ball from his linebacker position.

The win keeps Chenango Forks undefeated at they move to 4-0.  Maine-Endwell drops to 2-2.  Next up the Blue Devils host rival Chenango Valley on Friday night while the Spartans entertain another rival in Johnson City.
