Snow and Ice to Blanket Most of New York and Pennsylvania

The National Weather Service in Binghamton has issued a Winter Weather Advisory in effect from 9 a.m. January 26 until 1 a.m. January 27.

While times and precipitation totals for the weather advisories vary, almost all of New York and Pennsylvania are bracing for accumulating snow and sleet.

For the Twin Tiers, including Broome, Tioga, Chenango, Delaware and Cortland Counties in New York and Susquehanna, Wayne and Bradford Counties in Pennsylvania, one to four inches of snow and a trace to a quarter inch of ice accumulation is expected.

Areas to the north and west could be looking at up to 7 inches of snow.

Motorists should plan on slippery and snow covered roads for the afternoon and evening commute as weather and road conditions change.

The National Weather Service in Binghamton says light snow is expected to move in for mid to late morning January 26.

Snowfall rates may approach 1 inch per hour for brief period of time late in the morning and early afternoon. The snow will mix with or change to freezing drizzle in the afternoon, with precipitation   becoming spotty in coverage. The spotty mix will change back to scattered light snow Tuesday night.
