Second Suspect Arrested in Fatal Shooting Near Binghamton Stadium
Another man has been charged with murder in connection with the killing of Qualyn Terry nearly a year ago in downtown Binghamton.
City police on Monday announced 20-year-old Tayshon Smith of Brooklyn had been tracked down near Richmond, Virginia.
According to a detective bureau news release, Smith was taken into custody on January 7 by the U.S. Marshals Service and the Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force. He was found in Chesterfield, a short distance south of Richmond.
Smith has been indicted on a charge of second-degree murder. He is being held in Virginia awaiting extradition to New York state.
Binghamton police last week announced an Endicott man had been arrested in connection with the February 9 shooting of Qualyn Terry, who was driving a car on Lewis Street near Fayette Street.
21-year-old Joziah Worthington actually had been taken into custody nearly three weeks before his arrest was disclosed. He was indicted on one count of second-degree murder and two counts of criminal possession of a weapon.
Terry was pronounced dead at the scene after he was shot just before five o'clock on a Friday afternoon.
Investigators won't discuss a possible motive or any of the circumstances surrounding the fatal shooting. They also haven't indicated whether any other arrests are expected in the case.
