Busy Week For New York State Police Troop C

Troop C of the New York State Police is based in Sidney. This week, the agency reported several incidents throughout the area they serve, including Broome, Tioga, Delaware, and Otsego Counties. Here are just a few releases for the week of August 31, 2026, from Troop C:

Interstate 81 Crash

On August 30th, New York State Police and Broome County Sheriff's Deputies responded to multiple crashes on Interstate 81 in the town of Barker.

A Cadillac and a Kia were both traveling north on Interstate 81, with the Cadillac in the right lane and the Kia in the left lane. The Cadillac operator failed to observe the Kia and moved to the left lane, striking the rear quarter panel and bumper of the Kia.  The Cadillac struck a guardrail and came to a stop in the right lane facing the wrong direction in the northbound lane.

The Kia rolled and came to a stop in the median, right side up. The operator of the Cadillac was transported to Wilson Medical Center and was issued a traffic ticket. The operator of the Kia was also transported to UHS Wilson Medical Center.

Colesville Robbery & Assault

On August 31st, New York State Police BCI at Binghamton arrested two men following a reported robbery in the town of Colesville. According to the report, 31-year-old Ian Albrechta from Port Crane drove 43-year-old William Conrad of Union Dale, Pennsylvania, to a residence in the town of Colesville to confront an individual.

Troopers reported that the confrontation became physical, and Conrad was accused of physically assaulting the individual before taking the individual’s Harley-Davidson motorcycle. Both Albrechta and Conrad were arrested. Each was charged with Robbery in the 3^rd degree, a class “D” felony.

Albrechta was also found in possession of suspected methamphetamine and was additionally charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 4^th degree, a class “C” felony. Albrechta and Conrad were turned over to the Broome County Correctional Facility for Arraignment.

Making Threats

Also on  August 31st, NYS Police BCI arrested 40-year-old Joshua Crampton of Endicott, following an investigation into threats made toward Child Protective Services employees. The report noted that Crampton had left a threatening voicemail directed at Broome County CPS workers.

BCI also noted that Crampton was in possession of a firearm at his residence, despite being prohibited from possessing a firearm due to an existing order of protection. After making contact with him, Crampton turned himself in to State Police and was charged with making a terrorist threat, criminal possession of a weapon in the 4^th degree, and criminal Contempt in the 2^nd degree.

He was turned over to the Broome County Correctional Facility for Arraignment.
