Rumble Ponies Go for Squirrels Sweep
The Binghamton Rumble Ponies go for the series sweep tonight (Thursday) in Richmond when they meet the Flying Squirrels in the third game of their three-game series at 6:35 (air at 6:20 on News Radio 1290 WNBF). The Rumble Ponies have won the first two games in the series in extra innings. They have been down to their last strike in both games and went on to win.
Heading into tonight's game Binghamton and Trenton are deadlocked for first place in the Eastern Division with Reading 1.5 games behind. The Rumble Ponies are 29-18. Against teams in the Western Division including Richmond Binghamton has a commanding 17-4 record. Overall on the road the Rumble Ponies are 20-8 while just 9-10 at home.
Mickey Jannis is Binghamton's scheduled starting pitcher tonight. He is 2-2 with an ERA of 3.93. Opposing him is Conor Menez who is 3-2 with an ERA of 2.40. Following tonight's game the Rumble Ponies return to NYSEG Stadium on Friday night to host the Portland Sea Dogs at 7:05.
