
Rumble Ponies Continue Road Trip With Erie Visit
The Binghamton Rumble Ponies continue their eight-game road trip with the first of three games in Erie against the SeaWolves at 7:05 (air at 6:50 on News Radio 1290 WNBF) tonight. Binghamton is 6-3 versus Erie so far this season.
The Rumble Ponies finished their five-game series in Altoona on Sunday night with an 8-5 loss. Heading into the Erie series Binghamton is two games over .500 for the season with a record of 40-38. Binghamton is 5-9 in the second half of the season so far which puts them 3.5 games behind first place Reading. The Rumble Ponies are just 3-7 in their last ten games.
Harol Gonzalez, an Eastern League All-Star, is Binghamton's scheduled starter. He is 3-3 with an ERA of 3.41. Erie sends Anthony Castro to the mound. He is 3-1 and carries an ERA of 4.08. Erie is off to the best second-half start of any team in the Eastern League. The SeaWolves are 10-2 and are 41-37 overall.
Following three straight games in Erie the Rumble Ponies return home to host Akron in a four-game series at NYSEG Stadium. That series features a July 4 night game. After the four straight against the Rubber Ducks the Eastern League takes a three-day break for the All-Star game coming up in Richmond next week.
