Rumble Ponies Back Home Tonight
The Binghamton Rumble Ponies look for their fourth consecutive victory tonight (Monday) when the host the Erie SeaWolves at 6:35 (6:20 air on News Radio 1290 WNBF). Yesterday the Rumble Ponies defeated the Portland Sea Dogs 10-4 at Hadlock Field. Second baseman Jeff McNeil hit for the cycle in pacing the Ponies' attack. The only other Binghamton player for either the Mets or Rumble Ponies to hit for the cycle was Josh Satin who did so for the B-Mets against the Bowie Baysox in the 2011 season.
The Rumble Ponies finished their eight-game road trip with a 4-4 record. Overall, coming into tonight's action the Rumble Ponies are 17-17 and in fourth place in the Eastern Division. The SeaWolves are 14-21 and tied for fifth place in the Western Division.
Binghamton starts Mickey Jannis on the mound tonight against Erie's Kyle Funkhouser. Jannis is 3-1 while Funkhouser is 0-3. Peter Alonso continues to feast on Eastern League pitching and is second in batting average at .355 and second in home runs with 9. Alonso is also in second in the Eastern league in runs batted in with 30. After Jeff McNeil's cycle performance on Sunday he leads the league in runs with 30 and extra-base hits with 20.
