Rumble Ponies at Trenton in Fight for First Place
The Binghamton Rumble Ponies square off in Trenton tonight in the first of a four-game series. Binghamton enters play tonight with a one-half game lead over the Thunder in the battle for first place in the Eastern Division of the Eastern League.
The series pits the Double-A affiliates of the New York Mets and New York Yankees against each other. It is the only visit to Trenton that the Rumble Ponies will make this season. Mike Gibbons is the scheduled starter for the Rumble Ponies. He carries a 4-4 slate and ERA of 4.41 into tonight's action. Trenton counters with Garrett Whitlock who is 2-0 with an ERA of 1.99.
The Rumble Ponies are coming off a home loss to Altoona yesterday. Before a NYSEG Stadium sellout crowd of over 6,800 fans on Baseball in Education Day the Rumble Ponies jumped out to an early 5-0 lead before falling 9-8 to the Curve.
