The Bridge over Railroad Tracks on River Road Closed

The River Road Bridge over railroad tracks just east of the Route 12 and River Road intersection in the Town of Chenango is temporarily closed.

The span will be fully closed starting at 7 a.m. April 12 as the bridge is being replaced.

The Broome County Department of Public Works says the bridge over the New York Susquehanna and Western Railway is being replaced as part of a federal-aid capital project.

An off-site signed detour route using Airport Road and Kattelvilled Road will be used to maintain traffic around the closure. Deborah Drive and Shore Acres Drive will remain open and there will be access to homes located in the vicinity of the bridge.

The work is expected to be done August 12.
