A spray-painted racist message has been discovered a few yards from a Binghamton-area high school.

The phrase "KKK 4ever" was spotted on a railroad underpass in a residential neighborhood near Chenango Forks High School on Easter Sunday.

The offensive message was scrawled in blue paint over other graffiti on a concrete wall just south of school athletic fields. The phrase was underlined with red paint.

The underpass is on Patch Road between Jason Drive and Asbury Avenue in Chenango Bridge.

Broome County Sheriff David Harder said he had been unaware of the message and did not believe a report had been filed with his agency.

Chenango Forks Central School District Superintendent Lloyd Peck and high school principal John Hillis did not return calls seeking comment on the message.
