Members of the village of Endicott planning board will have an opportunity to hear views from residents about a plan to open a Byrne Dairy convenience store on East Main Street.

The Syracuse-based company wants to tear down an abandoned building that had been used as a Friendly's restaurant for decades.

The planning board is to hold a public hearing on plans to construct the store and a fueling facility on the northeast corner of East Main Street and Loder Avenue.

The hearing will be via a Zoom video conference at 5 p.m. Thursday. The link to the session may be reached by clicking HERE.

The Endicott village board recently amended tobacco retailing regulations to help clear the way for the Byrne Dairy project. The site's close proximity to Jennie F. Snapp Middle School could have prevented the sale of cigarettes and other tobacco items if the law had not been changed.

The sale of the property has not been finalized. The deal is expected to close within the next month.
